How do we do it!

It all began with an idea. ‘How can we make a difference’. Having seen the benefits of modern building methods we decided to create Cariad Homes, and focus on building premium efficient, quality homes and would put these ideas into practice.

A+ Efficiency rating

We surpass today’s building standards and current regulations to create homes with exceptional energy efficiency ratings.

Heat Recovery Ventilation Systems

Our energy-efficient homes are built to exceptional airtightness standards and feature advanced heat recovery ventilation (HRV) systems that deliver both environmental and health benefits. These intelligent systems continuously extract stale, humid air from kitchens and bathrooms while simultaneously drawing in fresh outdoor air, recovering up to 90% of the heat that would otherwise be lost.

HVAC

Our eco-friendly homes feature state-of-the-art HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning) systems designed to maximise energy efficiency while ensuring optimal indoor comfort year-round.

Carbon Neutral Homes

Cariad Homes ensures that for each house we build we fully offset the entire carbon footprint via a fully recognised scheme fully conforming to BSI PAS 2060 guidance.

 FAQs

  • We aim to achieve A+ ratings for all our homes and each home will be certified, once completed. A full environmental pack is included with each house which details of exactly how it meets these standards.

  • These intelligent systems provide precise temperature control throughout your home while significantly reducing energy consumption compared to traditional heating methods. The integrated ventilation component ensures continuous fresh air circulation, improving indoor air quality by filtering out pollutants and allergens, while the smart zoning capabilities allow you to heat or cool only the areas you're using. This results in substantially lower energy bills, reduced carbon emissions, and a healthier living environment for your family, all while maintaining the perfect climate in every room of your home.

  • Yes they are!

This process maintains optimal indoor air quality by removing pollutants, allergens, and excess moisture that can lead to condensation and mould growth, creating a healthier living environment that's particularly beneficial for those with asthma or allergies. The constant supply of filtered fresh air, combined with precise humidity control, ensures your home remains comfortable and healthy year-round while dramatically reducing heating costs – giving you the best of both worlds: superior indoor air quality and exceptional energy efficiency.

  • Absolutely! Our homes feature advanced HEPA filtration systems that remove 99.97% of airborne particles as small as 0.3 microns, creating significantly healthier indoor environments for you and your family. This hospital-grade air filtration effectively captures dust mites, pollen, pet dander, mould spores, bacteria, and fine particulate matter, providing substantial relief for residents with asthma, allergies, eczema, and other respiratory conditions.

Clean, filtered air contributes to better sleep quality, reduced fatigue, and improved overall wellbeing for all occupants, making your home a true sanctuary from outdoor pollution and indoor air quality concerns.

  • We provide transparent, detailed calculations for the estimated running costs of our energy-efficient homes using standardised assessment methods including SAP (Standard Assessment Procedure) ratings and Energy Performance Certificates. Our calculations factor in the home's thermal performance, insulation levels, airtightness, heating system efficiency, renewable energy generation from solar panels or heat pumps, and regional energy tariffs to provide accurate annual cost projections. We account for all energy usage including heating, hot water, lighting, and ventilation systems, then apply current local energy prices and government schemes such as the Smart Export Guarantee for solar generation. Each homeowner receives a comprehensive breakdown showing projected monthly and annual costs compared to typical UK homes of similar size, demonstrating potential savings of 60-80% on energy bills. We also provide sensitivity analysis showing how costs may vary with different usage patterns and energy price fluctuations, ensuring you have realistic expectations and can make informed decisions about your home's long-term affordability.

  • Our homes achieve carbon neutrality through a comprehensive two-stage approach that addresses both construction and operational emissions. During the build phase, we meticulously calculate the embodied carbon from all materials, transportation, and construction processes, which typically amounts to approximately 100-120 tonnes of CO2 equivalent for an average home. We then offset 100% of these construction emissions through certified Verified Carbon Standard (VCS) schemes, including verified reforestation projects, renewable energy developments, and peatland restoration initiatives that provide immediate, measurable carbon reduction. For operational emissions, our homes are designed to be net-zero energy through superior insulation, airtight construction, heat recovery ventilation, efficient heat pump systems, and integrated solar panels that often generate more clean energy than the home consumes annually. Any remaining operational carbon footprint is also offset through the same rigorous VCS certification process, ensuring that from the moment construction begins through decades of occupancy, your home has a net-zero impact on climate change while providing exceptional comfort and dramatically reduced energy costs.
